The hairy crab is found from the Bay of the Cross in the Bering Sea, to the northwestern part of the Sea of Japan and Hokkaido Island. In American waters, it is found in the eastern part of the Bering Sea (near the Pribilov Islands, St. Matthew, in Norton Bay), along the Aleutian ridge, off the coast of the Alaska Peninsula. Penetrates to California. It inhabits from the tidal zone to a depth of 110m. (Slizkin, 2006)
