| Widespread shrimp. Occurs off northern Europe, off the east coast of Canada, the United States, along the Asian coast from the Chukchi Sea to the Sea of Japan (Peter the Great Bay, Sangar Strait). It occurs from the tidal zone up to 1380 m. Inhabits almost all types of bottom: among stones, shell rock, on sands. It differs from other species of the genus by a short rostrum with 5 or fewer spines, which does not extend anteriorly beyond the eyes, by the presence of pereopods of epipodites on the 3rd pair.
