Widespread shrimp. Occurs off northern Europe, off the east coast of Canada, the United States, along the Asian coast from the Chukchi Sea to the Sea of ​​Japan (Peter the Great Bay, Sangar Strait). It occurs from the tidal zone up to 1380 m. Inhabits almost all types of bottom: among stones, shell rock, on sands. It differs from other species of the genus by a short rostrum with 5 or fewer spines, which does not extend anteriorly beyond the eyes, by the presence of pereopods of epipodites on the 3rd pair. (Slizkin, 2006).
