It is believed that the polar lebbeus lives in all Arctic seas washing the shores of Europe, Asia and America, from where it descends to Cape Cod, Kodiak Island, the southeastern coast of Sakhalin Island and the Kuril Islands. Recorded at depths from 3 to 390 m, in the Okhotsk and Bering Seas - up to 90 m (Slizkin, 2006).
