Occurs from Hudson Bay and Greenland to Massachusetts Bay off the American Atlantic coast; in the Arctic and North-East Atlantic from Svalbard and the northeastern coast of Greenland in the north (Birula, 1906; Hofsten, 1916); to the North, Irish Seas in the south (Holthuis, 1947; Squires, 1990); as well as in the Barents, White (Kuznetsov, 1964) and Kara seas (Alpatov, 1923; Gorbunov, 1932; 1934); in the North Pacific from Alaska to Puget Sound (Squires, 1990). Inhabits at depths of 5 - 465 m (Heegaard, 1941), usually 10-50 m (Hofsten, 1916). (Sokolov, 2003). Occurs from the Bering Sea to the Gulf of Alaska. Found in the Sea of ​​Okhotsk near the Kuril Islands at 50-60 m. At the Sea of ​​Okhotsk coast of Hokkaido - at depths of 170-240 m, in the Sea of ​​Japan - off the coast of Hokkaido Island, in Toyama Bay. Found at depths of 16-400 m on stony or gravel ground.
