Occurs in the North Atlantic from southwestern Norway to western Africa. Mediterranean, Black and Azov Seas. It transfers significant desalination and penetrates into brackish waters with a salinity of 3-5%. In 1931-34. together with mullet, it was introduced into the Caspian and Aral Sea, where it successfully took root (Kobyakova, Dolgopolskaya, 1969). A typical inhabitant of the Black Sea coastal zone, living among stones and algae. It is also found in the thickets of zostera. Commercial shrimp. In the coastal zone, it is found everywhere, except for clean sand. In winter, these shrimps leave the surf zone and are found in rock crevices and among thickets of algae, starting from 3-4 meters. Often found in accumulation of grass shrimp P. adspersus.
